Great Lakes National Parks Go Greeb

Five parks along Lake Superior will be among the first to operate completely free of the use of fossil fuels. The parks include: Isle Royale National Park, Keweenaw National Historical Park, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Grand Portage National Monument. Denice Swanke, superintendent of Isle Royale National Park, will describe what it means to “go green” at a public forum sponsored by the Keweenaw Unitarian Fellowship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 9. The presentation will be virtual and open to the public. She previously served as deputy superintendent and acting superintendent of Denali National Park and superintendent of Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument in Montana. Swanke has also worked at Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon National Park and Zion National Park.
